Draft - Specification for clean and green urban farms – Layer farms
OVERVIEW
This standard sets out the requirements for a farm management system and provides guidance on best practices to monitor resource optimisation and waste management, while ensuring the production of safe and high-quality produce throughout all phases of farm operations.
It covers the follow phases:

Pre-production (e.g. egg hatching, breeding and pullet grow out phase);

Production (e.g. feeding, egg laying and egg collection); and
-
Post-production (e.g. egg packing, management of spent birds).
This standard also aims to minimise the impact on the environment and to protect the welfare of animals.
Potential users of the standard include chicken and quail layer farms, retailers, institutes of higher learning (IHLs), training providers, research institutions, certification bodies, industry associations and relevant government agencies.
