Specification for organic primary produce (SS 632:2017+C1:2018+A1:2019)

OVERVIEW

This standard specifies the requirements for primary produce such as grains, mushrooms, fresh vegetables, fresh herbs and fresh fruits and covers processes such as production, post-harvest practices, import, packing and repacking, storage, transport and labelling of organic produce. Livestock, fish and processed food are not within the scope for this standard.

The amendment is to include some of the best practices and the reference source on sustainable packaging.

The standard was released for public comment from 6 December 2024 to 7 February 2025 and amendments had since been made to address the comments received. The Working Group had deliberated and addressed the comments received. The main changes are as follows:

? Deletion of the invalid hyperlinks stated in the list of references
? Insertion of Technical Reference on Sustainable packaging guiding framework and practices
? Amendments to clause 9.4.1 and 9.5.2 e) iii)
Users of the standard include primary producers, distributors, testing, inspection and certification bodies, institutes of higher learning, training providers, industry associations, research and professional institutions and relevant government agencies.
