OVERVIEW
This standard specifies common terms used in asset management related works in a
railway system such as asset planning, design and build, procurement, operation, maintenance, performance monitoring, modification and renewal, decommissioning and replacement.
The standard is reviewed with the intention to identify, update, and incorporate relevant terminologies, to ensure that the definitions remain current, accurate and effective in supporting industry practices and public communication.
Users of the standard include rail transport operators, contractors, manufacturers and suppliers, institutes of higher learning and relevant government agencies.
