OVERVIEW

This standard specifies the construction, mechanical and electrical performance requirements and describes test methods for circuit integrity, for 300/500 V fire-resistant multicore screened fixed installation cables, and for armoured and non-armoured fire-resistant power and control cables of rated voltages up to and including 600/1000 V, having low emission of smoke and corrosive gases when affected by fire.

The standard applies to cables designed for use in critical life-safety and firefighting systems where continued operation during a fire is essential. It covers cable construction, performance criteria, and testing requirements for assessing fire resistance and circuit integrity.
The revision aims to align the standard with current technical developments, technological advancements, and industry practices to support the safe and reliable operation of essential systems during emergency situations.
It does not cover cables rated above 600/1000 V, mineral-insulated copper-clad cables, communication cables, or the design, selection, and installation of electrical distribution systems.

Users of the standard include cable manufacturers and suppliers, consulting engineers, electrical designers, contractors, developers, building owners, facility managers, TIC bodies and relevant government agencies.
