OVERVIEW
This Techincal Reference (TR) provides an overview of the communication messages exchanged between the operation computer/local controller and the dedicated short range communication (DSRC) devices installed at the entry and exit points of a controlled area, enabling interaction with vehicles equipped with an on-board unit.
This TR defines the communication protocol and message structures required for interaction between DSRC devices installed at parking sites and local controllers responsible for transaction management. This TR also outlines the operational challenges faced under the electronic parking system framework and illustrates how new functions enabled by satellite-based electronic toll collection address these limitations.
